Shown
is the Great Lakes watershed (black boundary) with four major habitat
types (water-blue; agriculture-red; deciduous forest-lt green; and
coniferous forest-dark green), and the locations (•) of project
participants.
The
Great Lakes Environmental Indicators project (or GLEI) is primarily
focused on the US Great Lakes shorelines and coastal margins. We
will be using landcover and other information about stressors within
the U.S. Great Lakes watershed as a whole, but our sampling is entirely
along the U.S. coastline.
The
GLEI program is part of an EPA initiative to develop indicators
of condition for the coasts of the United States.
