The conferences are biennial, and they are designed to report
on the condition of the Great Lakes ecosystem components with
respect to progress toward the goals and objectives of the Great
Lakes Water Quality Agreement between Canada and the U.S.
- The
conferences are science-based rather than programmatic, and are
a result of consultation and collaboration between U.S. and Canada,
and between federal, state and local government agencies, environmental
groups, industry and the public.
